#1 Canned Foods (Including Soda)
Most cans are lined with a product called bisphenol-A (BPA), which has been shown to genetically alter the brain cells of rats. BPA is used in the lining of cans and has been known to be an endocrine disruptor that can disrupt or mimic hormones and as a result increase the risks for prostate and breast cancer.
Canned tomatoes are extra harmful, because they have a high acidity which allows them to soak up the BPA at a more rapid pace than other canned foods.
#2 French Fries
French fries are made with hydrogenated oil and they are fried at high temperatures. Some chains even add sugar to their fry recipe to make them even more irresistible. Not only do they clog your arteries with saturated fat and trans fat, they also contain acrylamides. Most fries contain the stuffs and chemicals named above, which is why they should be called “cancer fries”, not French fries.
#3 Processed Meats or Read Meat
Processed meats like hot dogs releases a carcinogen called heterocyclic aromatic amines. All these contain numerous chemicals and preservatives, including sodium nitrates, which make them, look appealing and fresh but are well known carcinogens. Smoking meats seem to be particularly bad as the meat picks up tar from the smoking process. Yes, it’s the same deadly ingredient that cigarette smoke contains.
#4 Non-Organic Fruits
The problem with non-organic fruits is the use of toxic fertilizers and hormones used to make fruits and veggies bigger. In case you were wondering, the worst offenders are apples, followed by oranges, strawberries and grapes. You should always wash fruits and veggies to be safe, but know that this doesn’t remove all pesticides.
#5 Microwave Popcorn
Most microwaved popcorn contains a highly toxic chemical called perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) in the bag lining. In several studies, it has been proven that people that have been exposed to “PFOA” have been at a higher risk to develop bladder and kidney cancers.
